Eligibility-Foundations Program

For international students, entrance into The University of Findlay’s Foundations Program requires an earned diploma from an accredited high school.

The following criteria are used as standards for first-time student admission into the Foundations Program:
  • High school grades (minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average);
  • American College Test (ACT) (minimum 17 composite ACT) or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) (minimum 820 composite SAT) scores
  • International students entering The University of Findlay’s undergraduate program must submit a TOEFL score of at least 61, an IELTS score of a least 6.0, a Pearson Test of English (academic) score of at least 55, or an International Test of English Proficiency (iTEP) score of at least 3.5. Students, whose medium of instruction was in English at the secondary and/or postsecondary levels, may apply for exemption from this requirement. Students, who do not meet the language requirement, may study in The University of Findlay’s Intensive English Language Program prior to beginning their academic studies. Successful completion of the IELP waives the TOEFL, IELTS, Pearson Test of English (academic), and/or iTEP requirement.
Certain programs (e.g., environmental, safety, and occupational health management, physical therapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy, and majors within the Department of Animal Science and Pre-Veterinary Studies) may require additional criteria.

Students, who receive admission into the Foundations Program are required to take ENIN 450, ENIN 450L, ENIN 350, and ENGL 145 in their first semester of study. They are also required to meet with a faculty coach from the Intensive English Language Program each week.
